Show Notes

Ken welcomes David Myles, professor, public speaker, pastor, theologian, author and fellow participant in the Civil Rights Tour of the South this past summer. A state champion javelin thrower in college, David, along with Ken, graduated with a Master of Divinity degree from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Deerfield, Illinois. David's career has taken him to pastorates in Ohio and currently in Minnesota. In both locations, David's community engagement put him in the arena of law enforcement and community development. In both states, a racial crisis erupted. At age 22, John Crawford III was shot by police in Dayton, Ohio in 2014, not far from David's church. He was holding a BB gun in a Walmart store -  considering a purchase - when he was tragically killed by a SWAT team that responded to an "active shooter" 911 call. A few years later, David was an associate pastor in Minneapolis when in May of 2020, George Floyd was killed as the nation watched, triggering a massive global reaction of both protest and reform. With Ken, David shares his remarkable first-hand experience as a pastor, theologian, and community activist, applying a biblical response. David was a valuable contributor to Ken's podcast series, Truth Quest - Exploring the History of Race in America. SHOW NOTES
