Show Notes

Betsey and Ken review the intense emotional impact of election day on the nation and on themselves personally. Betsey has been invested in the process, volunteering, addressing envelopes, and participating in social media (see her on Twitter @newenhuyse). "There is so much at stake" - Democracy is on the ballot. The morning after, both were relieved. Both Illinois (Pritzker vs. Bailey) and Pennsylvania (Fetterman vs Oz) signaled the retention of Democratic control of the Senate. House races and gubernatorial races were a repudiation of the Trumpist agendas of election denial, women's rights, voter suppression, and most important of all, the attack on democracy. The two comment on Trumpist candidates Kari Lake in Arizona and Ron DeSantis in Florida. Michigan is a strong example of the impact of the election with the victory of Governor Gretchen Whitmer. Ken shares his evening taking in the Aaron Sorkin stage play To Kill a Mockingbird at the Pantages in Hollywood starring Richard Thomas as Atticus Finch. Pete Buttigieg has had a high profile during the election.
